The Okavango is a unique ecosystem in that it is situated in the middle of the largest stretch of continuous sand in the world – the Kalahari basin. This wetland lies like an oasis in an otherwise inhospitable landscape. The vegetation is lush and varied attracting a host of wildlife.

The Okavango delta is the world’s largest inland delta covering an enormous area. Most camps and lodges can be described as luxurious offering a host of activities such as: day drives, night drives, bush walks, power boat trips and mokoro trips (traditional dugout canoe). The delta obtains its water from the Angolan highlands, which flow steadily into the delta; therefore the annual flooding of the delta does not correspond with the annual rainfall of the delta. The water level varies from year to year and thus ever changing the delta.

Access to most of these camps and lodges is by small charter aircraft offering a bird’s eye view of the delta.
