The Moremi Game Reserve was first established in 1963, and the park forms an integral part of the Okavango Delta. The park stretches from roughly the center of the delta to the extreme eastern side of the delta. The Moremi game reserve covers an area of
4 871 km square. The Moremi is described as one of the most beautiful wildlife reserves on the continent. It combines lagoons, floodplains, acacia forests and mopane woodland. It is this diversity of plant and animal life that makes Moremi Game reserve so well known.

Arguably the two most renowned areas’ of the Moremi Game Reserve is the Xakanaxa peninsula and Chiefs Island. The Xakanaxa peninsula is unique in the sense that it can be reached by four wheel drive vehicles and not only charter planes. In some quarters Chiefs Island is known as the predator capital of Southern Africa and very recently saw the re-introduction of White Rhino to the northern part of the Island thus making it the only place in the Okavango Delta where rhino can be seen.
